This is the only program that is slow to load. After the the several minutes, when it seems to be doing nothing (looking at the Task Manager), it all of a sudden comes up and I can edit images. I checked for those files and they are there, and there are no plugins installed. One thing I have now noticed that may provide a clue, is that if I do File Open recently edited file, it does not show the files I have recently edited. It is just a bunch of files that I edited months ago, and it does not change.

So wherever the list of recently edited files is stored may be messed up. But is is showing 20 files. Try the remove files from plug-in directory as mentioned above and start the editor with an empty plugin directory.

What happen if you open the Organizer, select an image and then hit the Ctrl-I keys? It should load the image into the editor. Does this also takes a long time?. If all fail, I'm afraid you'll have to re-install the complete program. In that case uninstall it using the Windows uninstall feature.

Then clean the registry thoroughly with, f.i. CCleaner, reboot your PC and reinstall the program. I know it's a hassle, but it should solve the problem.
